Is the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center (CHRC) is open?
Yes. We are currently operating under the State's guidelines (coronavirus.utah.gov).

What programs are affected by the Governor's Executive Order (2020-73)?

The following programs are being postponed and/or suspended for the next two weeks (November 9th - November 23rd, 2020).

  • Cottonwood Heights Aquatic Team (CHAT)
  • Brighton High Swim Team
  • Bengal Water Polo
  • Pre-comp Swim Team
  • Swimming Lessons
  • Open Gym (After School Program, Basketball, and Pickleball)
  • Ice Skating Lessons
  • Jr. Grizz
  • Adult Hockey
  • AIT
  • Synchro Skate Team
  • Spirit Productions

The Following areas will remain open during the Executive Order.

  • Public Swimming 
  • Lap Swimming
  • Public Ice Skating
  • Freestyle (including Figure Skating Club)
  • Stick-n-Puck
  • Cardio and Fitness Rooms
  • Track
  • Childcare
  • Group Fitness Classes (Land/Water)
  • Racquetball (open for same household groups)
  • Wallyball (open for same household groups)

General Operating Guidelines...

  • CHRC Hours of Operation:
    • Monday-Friday: 5am-9pm  
    • Saturday: 6am-9pm
    • Sunday: 11 am-4 pm
  • Open to all members and paying guests.
  • CASH is discouraged, but will accept if only form of payment.
  • Maintain social distancing.
  • Private, social interactions that occur without oversight by a formal organization are only allowed with people who live in the same household.
  • Face Coverings are required at all times, except:
    • while actively eating or drinking;
    • while exercising outdoors, or while exercising indoors and maintaining at least six feet of physical distance from any other individual from a separate household;
    • while swimming or on duty as a lifeguard.
    • The following individuals are exempt:
      • a child who is younger than three years old;
      • an individual with a medical condition, mental health condition, or intellectual or developmental disability, that prevents the individual from wearing a face mask.
  • Follow strict hygiene standards, including:
    • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
    • Use hand sanitizer frequently;
    • Avoid touching your face;
    • Cover coughs or sneezes (e.g. into a tissue, sleeve, or elbow; not hands);
    • Follow any other standards promulgated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Utah Department of Health, and local health department.
  • Patrons of different households, while exercising, must maintain 6 ft. of distance at all times.
  • Patrons are highly encouraged to clean and disinfect equipment after each use. 
  • Childcare with limited capacities and hours is available, with a reservation.
  • When permissible:  Team/Group participants (e.g., player, participant, etc.) must have their symptoms checked prior to each competition, camp, event or practice.
  • Aquatics (Indoor and Outdoor Pools):
    • Patrons of different households must maintain 6 ft. of distance while on the pool deck. 
    • Face Coverings are required when entering the pool area and must be worn by individuals on the pool deck.
    • When permissible:  Team/Group participants (e.g., player, participant, etc.) must have their symptoms checked prior to each competition, camp, event or practice.
    • Open Plunge / Public Swimming is open with a reduced capacity.
  • Closed or Unavailable Until Further Notice:
    • Indoor Sauna and Hot Tub.

When will my Membership be activated?
When the Recreation Center reopened (May 14th, 2020) under the  “Orange - Moderate Risk Phase”, we only activate memberships (annual and monthly easy pay) for those that actually used the Recreation Center, during that time. When the Recreation Center reopened (June 1st, 2020) under the “Yellow - Low Risk Phase”, we activated all remaining memberships (annual and monthly easy pay). Annual memberships will be extended from the day we closed (March 16th, 2020) to the date of reactivation, as mentioned above. Easy pay (monthly) membership where put on hold during the closure and will be reactivated, as mentioned above.

What park amenities and courts are open?
Most park amenities and courts are open and available, with the exception of the Mountview Park Splash Pad.  There are some capacity and social distancing restrictions in place.  Below are the guidelines and what you can expect to be open.

  • Outdoor Fields, Outdoor Basketball, Tennis Courts, Pickleball Courts, Playgrounds, Park Restrooms and Pavilions are open.
  • Maintain social distancing.
  • Private, social interactions that occur without oversight by a formal organization are only allowed with people who live in the same household.
  • Face coverings should be worn when not physically engaged in an activity.
  • Follow strict hygiene standards, including:
    • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
    • Use hand sanitizer frequently
