Recreation Program Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Recreation Management or closely related field preferred. Education may be substituted on a year for year basis with paid experience directly related to job duties.
  • One year of paid supervisory experience in recreation programming or related field.
  • Competent in computer programs including: Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher. Preferred knowledge of Sportsman or similar program.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and standards.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of recreational sports and activities. Organization of special events desirable.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Approved Criminal Background Investigation check.

                                                                                                       

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Non-seasonal, 40 hours per week, benefited position including health, dental, and life insurance, Utah Retirement, and 401K options; flexible schedule, must be available to work weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, day time and evenings as necessary.

 

SALARY:

  • $37,250 - $40,352 annually; dependent upon experience

POSITION PURPOSE:

Assist in the responsibility of identifying, planning, budgeting, promoting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating activities, programs and special events for the Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Service Area. Duties include supervision of seasonal staff, management of community events and programs, budget and record keeping, community relations and customer service. Participate in general facility and park supervision as it relates to the gymnasium, racquetball courts, cardio room, fitness room, ice arena, outdoor courts and green spaces to ensure safety and compliance. Responsible for supervising the following (but not limited to): various community events, tennis programs, pickleball programs, flag football, Jr. Jazz, summer youth camps, and ice programs as assigned. Must be able to communicate positively and professionally with the public, staff and administration.

                                                                                                       

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  1. Recreational, leisure time and event program development. Identify needs, plan, budget, promote, implement, monitor and evaluate program.
  2. Supervision of seasonal staff. Hire, train, schedule and evaluate seasonal staff.
  3. Budget and record keeping of all programs
  4. Community relations; provide information, resolve complaints, mobilize support and act as a community resource.
