Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Service Area offers a variety of lessons and training.
Group Swim Lessons
Our year-round swim lesson program offers 10 different classes for swimmers ages 6 months to adult, including Pre-Level, Levels 1 through 6 and Parent and Tot.
Rates for Group Swimming Lessons/6 Sessions
- Members - $30/1 participant or $29/2 or more participants
- Non-Members - $37/1 participant or $36/2 or more participants
Rates for Group Swimming Lessons/8 Sessions
- Members - $38/1 participant or $37/2 or more participants
- Non-Members - $44/1 participant or $43/2 or more participants
Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons
Private lessons are a great way to work with an instructor one-on-one in order to learn and improve swimming techniques; they're great for any level of swimmer.
Masters Swimming welcomes swimmers of all abilities who want to improve their overall fitness, develop better technique or train for any type of swimming competition. Swimmers of all levels are encouraged to participate. Please note this is not a swim lesson.

Pre-competitive Team (Pre-comp)
This swim team is designed to help those who have just finished swimming lessons prepare for a competitive team such as CHAT. Swimmers need to be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl and backstroke, as well as 25 yards breast stroke before signing up for pre-comp.
Boy Scout Classes
These courses provide instruction for Boy Scout swimming merit badges, First Aid, and CPR. Class times and dates vary throughout the year.
Water Safety Instructor Courses (American Red Cross)
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) training is a 30-hour course. A $10.00 non-refundable deposit/class fee is required. Pre-screening class/test is required prior to taking this course. Participants must be 16 years of age or older by the last day of class to take this course.
Lifeguard Training Courses (American Red Cross)
Lifeguard Training is a 27-hour course, including First Aid and CPR. A $10 non-refundable deposit/class fee is required. Pre-screening is required to take this course. Participants must be 15 years of age or older by the last day of this class to take course.
